Transcribe WhatsApp/signal voice messages on a Mac

I hate voice messages. Or: I hate receiving them. I can totally see the benefit of sending them, but in situations here I don’t want to type out a longer message I fall back to at least dictating my message rather than sending a full voice message and forcing the recipient to listen to me in realtime. Anyway, it seems that voice messages are here to stay.

At least I found a conventient way to get them transcribed today without uploading my messages to an online service: MacWhisper is able to locally transcribe voice messages on a Mac. Using the Signal desktop app or Whatapp web interface messages can be downloaded and dropped into MacWhisper and a transcription is then available within seconds.
